Recommendations on Hoovers please?

Does anyone have one of these hoovers? If you do is it any good for the price?


Believe it or not I have never had to buy a hoover as my mum gave me her old one when I moved out and it's just broke after all these years! Can only really afford one around this price or am I kidding myself and I really should be spending more on one? (Bit of a hoover buying novice!)

When you buy a vacuum cleaner, you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, buy twice!.


The best for cylinder are, without doubt, Miele. They will cost you slightly more but will last 20 years. Try buying online and I am sure you will get one in your price range.


For uprights, the best are Sebo. Nothing comes close to them for reliability,cleaning and dust filtration( very good if you are asthmatic) and longevity. These will last 20 years.


Again shop around, online you can buy them for around £180. I did see a second hand one on Ebay and the bids had past £80. Still worth it.


Why everyone recommends Dyson is beyond me. They breakdown, the hoses split, they are heavy and awkward to use.


They are too big to go under furniture. OK, they don't need bags, but they do need filters and at £6 each (2 in each machine) they ain't cheap.


Just a footnote. I drive a refuse wagon and we regularly pick up knackered Dysons. I counted 24 at the tip the other day. What does that you tell you.

But seriously...got a 'bum' Dyson called a Durabrand cyclonic. Your ma must have looked after her Hoover good stylee, but it must be said that other floor-cleaners have become top performers now. as I say, this pretend-Dyson I have is a stormer, and (whoopie)...don't even have to buy bags. Sorted!


Here, pet - just had a look at your Argos page, and it seems Hoover now are bringing out bum Dysons - if you just luv the Hoover name, go get it!

Reply:We got a Dyson a couple of years ago and it's great. No bags, excellent suction, and it is very easy to store. I don't think I'd go back to any other brand.

b)try comet the best vacuum i have ever had is a meile vacuum it is far better than dysons and the like, it is light weight and it is only 129.99 pounds!

Reply:You would be better off with a Henry hoover. These last for absolutely ages my mums had hers for 17 years and it survived a fall down the stairs!! they are around £100.

Reply:That seems a pretty good, average price. I believe Vax vacuum cleaners are pretty good. Another good place to buy them is the shopping channels on the TV., Price Drop 635., Bid TV 644 and Speed Auction 655.


By the way, it is not a Hoover, it is a vacuum cleaner. Only Hoover make Hoovers!


Dyson are the best vacuum cleaners though.

the small one...i hate the upright one its just so big and difficult for use in the hard to reach areas and the stairs
Reply:I have a Vax wet %26amp; dry. I have had it for years and I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone. It is my second Vax machine. When I say my second it is only because I upgraded and gave the old one to my daughter who had young children.


This one looks as though it is good value for money. I would go for it. If it just a vacume cleaner you want, then there is no need to spend any more than that.
Reply:I have one of those called Henry. You have a handle to wind the flex back in and all the attachments. It's easy to use and wasn't expensive. The lead is very long and so is the hose for the attachments. It has a nice smiley face on it as well. Best I've ever had. I had uprights in the past and they are not as good.
