How to build a den for a boy?

He wants a tree house den, but we havent got a tree. I got him a tent. But too small. He wants it to be like a games room if you know what i mean.

He got the idea off the telly. Ive been thinking about a wooden playhouse, but i cant help thinking it will make him come over girly.

This link was what i was thinking of, because it blue. but it still has that girly touch about it.

Any ideas?

A shed no doubt would be best. wouldent look girly then and he could even sleep in it on hot summer nights. but if you dont want a shed.... an attic or an basment would do?. also you could do something like a bigger play house and make sure it dosent have that girly look by painting over it with a more masculine colour... like dark blue. cos that play houseis more baby blue :z.

Reply:you could get some one to make it out of wood.

There are a lot of timber yards out there %26amp; it is basically full of chopped down trees. They also cut the logs in half for you if wanted %26amp; if you tell them what you wants how big etc they will cut it all to size so all you have to do is screw it together. This is what I done for my 2 boys Asking them to cut it all etc is a little more expensive but it is worth it, its hard work cutting logs/trees to the shape etc you want when they have all the professional equipment to do it.
Reply:How about building a platform on stilts, and putting an A-framed roof on top. Under the housie you can use the space to park bicycles or plant some camellias for instance. You can´t use it for a lovely shady seat because that would disturb his privacy of his den. And then he can access his den from a retractable ladder.
Reply:Awww what a nice mum you are to him. Have you thought about an ex army tent. Get a big one should be cheaper than that thing and it won't be girly. Good luck :)
Reply:Might be cheaper to buy a standard shed, then you can paint it whatever colour u like, better still let him paint it in his own style and be creative, or just leave it in its natural state.

Personally I think your imposing your own gender issues upon him, and worrying too much about what other people may think, but thats just my opinion as I wouldnt find it this much of a big deal.
Reply:like someone mentioned - get a small shed... that way u could get some paints and let him do his own design / decorations on it.
Reply:A shed?
Reply:Could always buy a small shed wh a window
