Static electricity question?

1. How many electrons would be required to have a total charge of 1.00 C on a sphere?

2. Two charges, q1 and q2. are separated by a distance, d, and exert a force on each other. What new force will exist if d is doubled?

If you could answer any one of these questions, that'll be really helpful! thanks!

Static electricity question?
1- N number of electrons needed for 1 C

1 e = 1.6 10^-19 C

N e = 1 C =%26gt; N = 1/(1.6 10^-19 )

2 -

Coulombian force is in 1/r², if r is doubled, force is divided by 4.
Reply:1. look up the charge of an electron (e) in terms of coulombs

2. d/4 - inverse square law
Reply:1) simple conversion:

1.00 C = 1.60x10^19 electrons; so yo uneed 1.60x10^19 electrons

2) replace d with 2d in the force equation:

F = QQ/d^2; if d = 2d, then

F = QQ/(4d^2), so the force is reduced by a factor of 4
