Music breaking-up (static) on my Windows computer.?

Hi, I have a problem where there's stuttering and breaking-up of my songs when my computer does something that taxes the system.

It's a Windows Vista computer with a good rating.

I use iTunes or WinAmp to play music while I use the computer and it plays great until I do something that (I think) makes the hard drive spin up.

I thought I was because I was using the motherboard's built-in sound so I bought a name brand sound card. It still happens with the higher quality sound card.

I thought it was because I have two hard drives and my music wasn't on my system drive, so I moved my mp3 library to my C: but it still happens.

It happens when I download large files and such (using different web browsers) but it doesn't always come up when I do something to activate my hard drive. I thought it might be magnetic disruption on the speakers from the system, but no.

Any ideas?

Hmm, well I used to have that problem with iTunes, but I just downloaded the most recent version of Apple and then it was okay, but I am running XP, not Vista. But updating is always worth a shot.
